Events:

ARTSSpring, a month in spring dedicated to the arts in Sandy Springs, would not be complete without a city-wide school talent show!! Show Stoppers, a talent competition for students from Sandy Springs schools, both public and private, will be held on Mother's Day, May 11, at 6pm in the Riverwood High School Theater. All elementary, middle and high schools in Sandy Springs have been invited to submit entries through the individual schools' selection processes.

Winners will be selected by both celebrity judges and audience voting.Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for students, and are available at Whole Foods in Sandy Springs, and at the box office the day of the event. Sandy Springs Youth Sports will host Family Night on Saturday, May 3 from 6-10 p.m. at Morgan Falls Ball Park. In addition to great food, live music and game/activities for the whole family to enjoy, there will also be a food drive for the Community Action Center. Everyone is encouraged to clean out their cupboards and drop their items into the blue bins located throughout the park during this event.

The citizens of Sandy Springs and over 30 area restaurants, eateries and sponsors are proud to announce the second annual Taste of Sandy Springs to be held on Sunday, May 4 from 12-6 on Sandy Springs Circle north of Hammond Drive to Mt. In addition to the festival, this year's event will host two exciting events: a Participation Ride and the grand finale race of the USA CRITS Southeastern Speed Week Cycling Series, a 3-state, 7-day event. Olympians and world- and nationally ranked men's and women's cyclists will take to the streets of Sandy Springs for the final leg of the seven-city "Speed Week" Criterium Series. Announcements:

Keep North Fulton Beautiful (KNFB) has a new Executive Director. Kathy Reed (pictured) was hired to serve as the non-profit's new leader."This is an organization that is making a strong and positive impact on the community," she says. "Many more people and businesses understand the importance of recycling and KNFB continues to be the main program supporting these efforts in the Sandy Springs, Milton and Johns Creek communities."

On May 5th, former Congressman Bob Barr will speak to the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs about current political issues. On May 12th, they club will recognize Teacher of the Year award winners. If you're interested in visiting, please click here.

Get the family together and head out to the entertainment lawn at Heritage Green on Sunday, May 18 to see the New Opera perform, "The Kitty Who Lost Her Meow," a kid-friendly opera. This "Awesome Afternoon" event will be held from 2-4 p.m. at the cost to attend is $3 per person. For more information please visit www.heritagesandysprings.org.

The Showcase School of Photography will feature the underwater images of Sandy Springs artist Doug Sturgess through June 12. Doug will be available to discuss his works at an opening reception on Thursday, May 15 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Showcase School Gallery, 1135 Sheridan Road, Atlanta.

Poll workers are needed and currently being hired to work on Election Day (July 15, 2008) to fill several positions in the City of Sandy Springs precincts. Sandy Springs Government Info:

The City of Sandy Springs and its staff will be presenting information at the monthly City Open House on May 12 from 5-7 p.m. The meeting will be held at Sandy Springs City Hall. There will be nearly 15 stations set up for the public to view and interact with city staff.
