The Glenridge Hammond Neighborhood Association, a 500-home neighborhood centered along Hammond Drive east of Roswell Road, decided it needed to take measures to reduce traffic speeds in the neighborhood.
Fulton County Commissioner Tom Lowe contributed $250,000 for the design and construction of the project.
The association formed the GHNA Neighborhood Improvement Steering Committee to partner with SSRI throughout the planning, design and construction of the project.
Construction began in July 2004 on the traffic calming and enhancement measures for the neighborhood which include 22 speed tables and two raised intersections made of Brussels Stone pavers.
The raised intersections are located at Hilderbrand Drive and Kayron Drive, and at Hilderbrand Drive and Harlestone Road.
The neighborhood traffic calming project in Glenridge Hammond was completed in late 2004.
