Roswell Road and Johnson Ferry Streetscape project

SSRI has secured federal funds and a local match from Fulton County for streetscape on Roswell Road from Hilderbrand Drive north to Johnson Ferry Road. And on Johnson Ferry Road from Roswell Road north to Abernathy Road for a total of 1.15 miles.

This project will apply the Sandy Springs Overlay District zoning sidewalk standards by replacing the old sidewalks on both sides of Roswell Rd with a pedestrian streetscape. The streetscape consists of 9-foot wide sidewalks, with an additional 2-foot strip of brickpavers, landscaping, pedestrian lights and benches. New driveways to businesses will be poured and curb cuts will be reduced in an effort to better manage traffic to the businesses. MARTA stops will have custom shelters and updated signage. New streetscape on both sides of Johnson Ferry Road will consist of 6-foot wide sidewalks. Pedestrian lighting will be installed as well as street trees and landscaping.

Designs are completed and approved. As of October 2005 construction was pending utility easements and the removal of utlity poles from the sidewalk area. Negotiations with the parties involved are ongoing.
