Nancy
Leathers joined SSRI as the executive director in September
of 2002 with more than 25 years of experience in planning.
She
was the director of Fulton County's Department of Environment
and Community Development for about ten years until she retired
in 2000 after being with the county for 20 years.
While
serving as director of Fulton County's Department of Environment
and Community Development Ms. Leathers was closely involved
in the original planning for Sandy Springs Revitalization.
Since retiring, Ms. Leathers also serves as a planning consultant.
Before
coming to Atlanta, Ms. Leathers served as a planner in Los
Angeles and Chicago She earned her master's degree from the
University of Chicago and her bachelor's degree from the University
of Minnesota. She is originally from Minnesota and has two
sons.
