Police & Fire Protection
The City of Sandy Springs Police Department began patrolling the streets on July 1, 2006 and the Fire Rescue Department began on December 29th of that same year. With 125 sworn police officers and 97 full-time and 60 part-time firefighters, a major emphasis has been put on Public Safety in Sandy Springs by the Mayor, City Councilmembers and City Manager. We have bold new initiatives in our police and fire departments and the beginning of a joint E911 Center with the City of Johns Creek in August 2009, which will position the City as a leader in Public Safety inititiatives.

 Sandy Springs Regional Library
The library is part of the Atlanta-Fulton Public County Library System. The  Sandy Springs branch has ongoing programming for children of all ages,  preschool through young adult. The library's collection contains approximately  130,000 items and includes books for all ages, videos, cds, dvds, and books on  tape.

The Sandy Springs Library receives strong community support through the efforts  of the Friends of the Sandy Springs Library, or FOSSL. Their semi-annual book  sales raise an average of $20,000 each year, dollars that are used to provide  special materials and services for all library users. They also offer memberships.  Annual dues are $10.00 per household. Student  membership, up to age 19, is  available for $5.00 per year.
